Using The Live Presenter View

What Is The Live Presenter View

The Live Presenter View is the fullscreen, projector-friendly leaderboard you put on the big screen during your event. The audience watches their teams climb the rankings in real time.

Opening Presenter View

  1. From inside any event, click Go Live
  2. A new browser tab opens at /presenter/[your-event-token]
  3. Press F11 for fullscreen (Cmd+Ctrl+F on Mac)

The Presenter View renders on a black background with large white text and clear team rankings.

Connecting To Your Projector

Method 1: HDMI cable (best for reliability)

  1. Plug HDMI from your laptop to the projector
  2. Mirror displays (or extend, then drag the Presenter View tab to the projector display)
  3. Press F11 in the Presenter View tab

Method 2: Wireless (Apple AirPlay, Google Cast, Miracast)

  1. Cast your screen to the projector
  2. Open the Presenter View tab
  3. Press F11

Method 3: Backup laptop

  1. Open Presenter View on a separate laptop connected to the projector
  2. The audience views from that laptop; you score from your main laptop
  3. Both update in real time

Auto-Refresh

Presenter View polls for updates every 5 seconds. When you save a score in your scoring tab, it appears on the projector within a few seconds. No manual refresh needed.

When standings actually change, the affected rows briefly highlight in brand red so the audience can see what moved. There's no full-screen overlay or flash on every poll — the projection stays calm and readable.

Toolbar Controls

Hover over the Presenter View to reveal the admin toolbar. The toolbar auto-hides after a few seconds of no movement so the audience sees only the leaderboard.

  • Show Breakdown — display per-game scores under each team name
  • Auto-Scroll — slow continuous scroll for events with 12+ teams
  • Refresh — manual refresh if needed
  • Fullscreen — toggle fullscreen mode
  • Exit — close Presenter View

Customising The Look

  • Score label— change "pts" to "marbles", "$", or any custom label in event settings
  • Top 3 highlight — the top three teams get brand-red rank badges automatically
  • Branding (Pro+)— remove the "Powered by GamesTally" footer (coming soon)
  • Custom logo (White Label)— upload your own logo to appear in place of GamesTally's (coming soon)

Pre-Event Testing

Before any high-stakes event, test the Presenter View on the actual venue projector:

  1. Connect your laptop to the projector
  2. Open Presenter View, go fullscreen
  3. Verify text is readable from the back of the room
  4. Test auto-refresh by changing a score in another tab
  5. Check connectivity is reliable on the venue WiFi (run for 10 minutes to confirm no drops)

Troubleshooting

Presenter View isn't updating
Check the WiFi connection. Manual refresh once. If still not updating, close and reopen the Presenter View tab.

Text is too small on the projector
Make sure you're in fullscreen (F11). Some browsers (especially Edge) have a default zoom of 90% — set it to 100%.

Black background is washed out on the projector
Usually a projector contrast issue, not a GamesTally issue. Adjust the projector's brightness/contrast in its menu.
